Mary Neel Lindsley Howard age 83 of Burgaw, slipped away from this life on Thursday August 9, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by close family members. She was born September 14, 1928 in Norfolk VA, daughter of the late Kenneth and Ola Pritchard Lindsley Sr. She was also predeceased by her son Kenneth David Howard.

She is survived by her husband Rufus David Howard, a daughter Susan Eileen Howard all of the home; one sister, Ann L White of Wilmington; two brothers, Kenneth P. Lindsley and wife Joann of Kansas, Pritchard D. Lindsley of Utah; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a loving wife mother and sister, and a faithful member of the Burgaw Baptist Church. She was secretary of her Sunday school class and an important member of the WMU holding various offices. Mary taught in public school in North Carolina for 35 years in the primary grades. She was a good and decent person, who was loved by those who knew her.

A memorial service will be Sunday August 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Burgaw Baptist Church. Reverend Nathan Morton will officiate.
